Whenever I get a chance to browse the music in a charity shop, summer fete or even a jumble sale I take the opportunity. The truth is I own more music than I’ll ever find time to listen to but a nice peruse sets my mind at ease and who knows there’s always the chance of finding a gem that someone else has disregarded.
Today I took to the summer fete where I live. There wasn’t much in the way of music available but there’s always a book stall that has a few CDs, so I headed over. First thing that caught my eye was that about 40% of the CDs on offer (3 for £2.50) were by a young upstart by Cliff Richard. I avoided the urge to dive headfirst into the audio history of Mr Webb so I carried on browsing. And then, underneath a job lot of the Navy Lark and Meatloaf I found something I’d not come across before – a gem if you like.

Now I’m something of a Queen afficianado, so to stumble across The Brian May band live at Brixton Academy CD from 1993 I was mighty pleased. At first, due to the design of the artwork, I presumed this was a bootleg but a quick look on Wikipedia confirms this as a genuine release. Who knew?
Couldn’t find anything else of note but a quid for an album I hadn’t heard of before was a good afternoon’s trawling as far as I know.
